And Jesus used words to heal people and to raise them from the dead etc.. '"Go," said Jesus. "Your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.' (Mark 10:52) Words are powerful. I've always known this, but I never really, I guess understood it.
Once you say something, it's out there. You can't physically take it back. I know this, because I just walked away from a conversation thinking "Man, I wish I could undo what I just said." But reality is, I can't. I can never take back anything I say whether it's good or bad.
You have the ability to build some one up or tear some one down, using your words. Something as simple as "You're Stupid" can leave someone feeling useless and well, stupid. What I post on Facebook I can't take back. Yes, I'm not stupid, I know there's a delete button, but even if one person sees it, that's it, I've said it.
All of us have times in our lives, where we look back and wish we could undo what we have said, but why don't we actually just think about what we say before we say it. Sometimes I think my mouth has a mind of it's own, one that I can't control and a whole lot of verbal vomit comes out and I think "Ooh, crap." and then the feeling of your heart sinking down below your feet, cause you've said the wrong thing. I hate that feeling.
So really, the words we say affect ourselves, and the person that we're talking to or talking about.
Words really are important.
